Layla’s Light Blog – Encouragement

Patience isn’t easy.

c1e88730ad821b34f78e22bf49c04711

Do you ever get frustrated with being “patient”? Patience is hard. Waiting on something to happen takes a great deal of self control. As we seek to be diligent in our faith…we learn the effectiveness of God’s timing. God knows what is best for us. God has given us the free will and ability to seek Him and then TRUST in Him. This is not easy. This takes prayer and dedication. This takes true surrender. As we face things in life, we must agree to be open and willing to allow God to work things out in our life. If we attempt to manipulate, control, and rearrange things because of our impatience…we will hinder the true value and worth of our future. We will prolong the blessings because we failed to trust God whole heartedly. Jesus gives us the ability to have peace and understanding as we wait. But we must be willing to seek Jesus for that help…and then trust in the silence. As you wait for things to happen in your life…commit to giving God all your heart. As we give our whole heart and soul to our Heavenly Father…He will surprise you with amazing results and a future filled with hope…in His timing.

But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. ROMANS 8:25-26

We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. HEBREWS 6:12

God is with us.

Are you prepared?

Lent_devotional_cross

How do you handle adversity? What do you do when you are faced with difficulty? How do you react when something major happens in your life? Pain, suffering, trials and grief are all components of the human life. We all go through these realities at some point. When we face things that seem impossible, we must be prepared. You may be wondering how you can prepare for some of the unimaginable things that happen to us. Faith. Prayer. God’s Word. We cannot expect to be equipped to handle life if we don’t make the effort to prepare ourselves properly. Studying God’s Word gives us knowledge, wisdom and understanding. Prayer is our continuous communication and relationship with our Heavenly Father. Faith is trust in action. Faith means that we know and believe that God is with us regardless of the circumstances. Faith means firmly believing and trusting in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Through this knowledge, belief and trust…we develop a heartfelt personal devotion and attachment to Jesus…that we express through our actions. We begin to develop patience, peace, love, gratitude and hope…because we are grounded on the solid rock of Jesus. As you face this day, begin preparing for the days to come. Strive to commit to building up your faith muscles. Your preparedness will give you the strength to face life…and help others along the way.

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. HEBREWS 10:23

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith – of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire – may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 1 PETER 1:6-7

God is with us.

Where are the answers?

prayer

As we all know…prayer is vital in our daily lives. Sometimes we become frustrated because we do not seem to receive answers to our prayers like we want to. This is because God is working on our behalf to align things in the best way to benefit our lives. This takes time…and many times…a certain shift in what we know as normal, has to happen. Do not become frustrated if something seems like an obstacle to you. This may be what God needs to allow…so that change may be instituted. Instead of ‘feeling frustrated’…begin praying and add a very important element to building your trust in God. Pick up your Bible. Reading the Word of God…brings us answers we would not have heard without having made an effort to find them. God’s Word is wisdom at all times…and hope in the uncertainty. Trust in God’s Word…trust in God’s timing…and build yourself up through continued prayer and study.

Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. PSALM 119:105

He taught me and said, ‘Lay hold of my words with all your heart, keep my commands and you will live. Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.’ PROVERBS 4:4-6

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. COLOSSIANS 4:2

God is with us.

Are you overwhelmed with responsibility?

trust

Have you ever felt so overwhelmed with responsibility, that you did not know where to begin? There are times in life where you just don’t know what direction to take, or how to maintain balance. Unexpected circumstances happen, and you may feel like life has bombarded you with decisions, tasks, and new responsibilities. It’s hard to know how to juggle everything when you already had a ‘full plate’. How do you handle all of these sudden changes in your routine? Many times we become so stressed, we cause headaches, sickness, or lack of sleep. Why do we do this? We are human, and often times we feel like we are required to figure out how to handle these additional life situations. We must recognize our mistake in this type of thinking. We are not capable of handling these overwhelming circumstances on our own. In fact, we are not capable of handling life in general, on our own. We must seek Jesus to help us. We must be in prayer about every circumstance, every emotion, and every new thing we face. God is with us…always. He is ready to guide us and give us the directions…but we must be willing to ask. We must surrender the control to the One who is in control. God is God and we are not. God will make a way, when we cannot foresee it. Trust in the Father. Ask Jesus to carry you…and allow the peace that surpasses all understanding…to flow over you.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path. PROVERBS 3:5-6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7

God is with us.

Let your light shine.

light shine

Have you ever used the excuse that you do not know everything about God yourself…so how can you talk to others about God? Most of us, whether you have been studying the Word for years, or new to your faith…have an uncertainty about how much we can speak about God to others. It is a very common misconception, and something we must all overcome. God desires for us to share our faith, no matter how knowledgeable you are. Each one of us are at different levels. The level of our Biblical education is not what helps another person…it is the love and sharing that helps someone else. The love of God shines through each of us. Let others know of the peace and love you have found. Let others know about the difference God has made in your life. Don’t be afraid to say what has happened to you in your own journey. It is through the testimony of our own lives…that we give hope and encouragement to those who are seeking to find the “light” in their lives!

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven. MATTHEW 5:14-16

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believer’s in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 TIMOTHY 4:12

God is with us.

Focus on the blessings.

Blessings

Spread the joy and the love that God pours into your lives each day. Focus on the blessings you receive on a daily basis. Recognize the gifts…bask in the beauty of our surroundings…cherish the relationships you have…and be grateful for everything. Do you realize the effect you will have on each day, if you would simply take the time to recognize the positive in your life? You have the ability to overcome anything, and it begins with the way you perceive it. Things that look like mountains of impossibilities, can be overcome. Instead of dwelling on all the negative parts of the circumstance, remind yourself that this is temporary. There is a way through this…if you trust in God to help you through it. Once you focus on all the good in your life…you will reflect that good…and Jesus’ light will shine in you.

In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.  MATTHEW 5:16

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” MATTHEW 19:26

God is with us.
