Favor we don’t have to earn.

photo

Have you really understood what power the words “Grace” and “Mercy” represent? Most people don’t really know the true definition of those words. Grace means we are given what we don’t deserve. Mercy suggests we are spared what we deserve. Both of these refer to God’s favor toward us…favor we don’t have to earn. God loves us so much, that He gives us these two powerful gifts on a daily basis. Many times we don’t even acknowledge His help…we pass it off as “luck”. Nothing is simply by chance or worldly nature. Every time you have been relieved of a negative circumstance in your life, it is because God gives you His Grace and Mercy. He is always there…freely giving…as long as we don’t begin putting up the road blocks in His way. We are the key to unlocking ALL of what God has to offer us. All we have to do is open our hearts…ask God to take control…and trust Him to lead us forward.

As you know, we consider blessed those that have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverence and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy. JAMES 5:11

Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one misses the Grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. HEBREWS 12:14-15

God is with us.

Compliments make a difference.

compliment

Doesn’t a compliment make you feel wonderful? You may be working hard at something. You may think no one has noticed, and when they do…it makes all that effort even more worth while. You may be setting life changing goals in health, eating, fitness…or dedicating more of your time to meditating in God’s Word. All of this takes effort. All of this shows a visible change in your life. When someone gives you that one word compliment…you light up on the inside! Recognize how the kindness of other’s can help your spirit to be uplifted and encouraged. Learn to apply this kindness to how you treat other people in your day to day routine. One kind word from you can make a life changing difference in another person’s life. This is how we share the love of Jesus with others. Everything we do in our lives creates an example for others. God loves it when we glorify Him in our actions, words and compassion from the heart.

Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. DANIEL 12:3

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 2 PETER 1:5-7

Your Garden.

gardening

Have you ever had the opportunity to tend and cultivate a garden? Even a small house plant takes attention and care. As you give attention to the garden and plants…you visually observe the growth and development that happens. The root system becomes stable…and eventually the plants or flowers are flourishing and producing. The small amount of effort you have taken to give the plants and flowers what they need…has given you positive results. If you take the same concept you use on tending to your plants and garden…and apply it to anything else in your life…you will achieve the same results. Things need effort…attention…and nurturing to be built up and grow. Often times we are guilty of ignoring and taking for granted…the very things that should be the focus of our attention…and then we wonder what went wrong? Seek God’s guidance in everything you face in life. Pray for Jesus to help you…and He will show you how. Tend to your spiritual life…tend to your children…tend to your marriage…tend to anything…and it will surely flourish.

The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. ISAIAH 58:11

Jesus says: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” MATTHEW 7:7-8

The power of prayer.

Prayer

There are so many instances in our life where we wish we could help someone, but simply have no idea how we could. There are situations and circumstances that make it impossible to physically help someone. Regardless of the helplessness you might feel…you are more than able to uplift, encourage, and empower. The most powerful, effective, and life changing thing you can do to help someone…is to surrender them to God in fervent prayer! The power of prayer is the one thing that can be most beneficial in a person’s life. Don’t think that it goes unnoticed. God hears every prayer…and when two or more come together praying for the same thing…God hears the need even more. Pray…and don’t stop. Your gift of prayer is more valuable than any physical thing on this earth.

“Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in Heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” MATTHEW 18:19-20

He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and He will deliver us. On Him we have set our hope that He will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.  2 CORINTHIANS 1:10-11

Patience isn’t easy.

c1e88730ad821b34f78e22bf49c04711

Do you ever get frustrated with being “patient”? Patience is hard. Waiting on something to happen takes a great deal of self control. As we seek to be diligent in our faith…we learn the effectiveness of God’s timing. God knows what is best for us. God has given us the free will and ability to seek Him and then TRUST in Him. This is not easy. This takes prayer and dedication. This takes true surrender. As we face things in life, we must agree to be open and willing to allow God to work things out in our life. If we attempt to manipulate, control, and rearrange things because of our impatience…we will hinder the true value and worth of our future. We will prolong the blessings because we failed to trust God whole heartedly. Jesus gives us the ability to have peace and understanding as we wait. But we must be willing to seek Jesus for that help…and then trust in the silence. As you wait for things to happen in your life…commit to giving God all your heart. As we give our whole heart and soul to our Heavenly Father…He will surprise you with amazing results and a future filled with hope…in His timing.

But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. ROMANS 8:25-26

We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. HEBREWS 6:12

God is with us.

Are you prepared?

Lent_devotional_cross

How do you handle adversity? What do you do when you are faced with difficulty? How do you react when something major happens in your life? Pain, suffering, trials and grief are all components of the human life. We all go through these realities at some point. When we face things that seem impossible, we must be prepared. You may be wondering how you can prepare for some of the unimaginable things that happen to us. Faith. Prayer. God’s Word. We cannot expect to be equipped to handle life if we don’t make the effort to prepare ourselves properly. Studying God’s Word gives us knowledge, wisdom and understanding. Prayer is our continuous communication and relationship with our Heavenly Father. Faith is trust in action. Faith means that we know and believe that God is with us regardless of the circumstances. Faith means firmly believing and trusting in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Through this knowledge, belief and trust…we develop a heartfelt personal devotion and attachment to Jesus…that we express through our actions. We begin to develop patience, peace, love, gratitude and hope…because we are grounded on the solid rock of Jesus. As you face this day, begin preparing for the days to come. Strive to commit to building up your faith muscles. Your preparedness will give you the strength to face life…and help others along the way.

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. HEBREWS 10:23

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith – of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire – may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 1 PETER 1:6-7

God is with us.
