On Christmas Eve 2013, Layla lost her oldest daughter Ashley. This difficult journey and her faith in Jesus, has given Layla the desire to help others see the hope. Therefore, Layla founded the 501c3 nonprofit Light of Hope (LOH) in 2015. LOH provided recovery and prevention programs to the community, assisting individuals and families faced with the struggles of substance misuse, addiction, life difficulties, and educating children through Light of Hope School & Community Drug Education programs.

This education program was created in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). In 2020 LOH was awarded the International DEA Community Drug Prevention Award for its incredible impact in the schools. Additionally, Light of Hope was awarded the "Non-Profit of the Year" in both 2019 & 2020.

Layla recently resigned from her nonprofit to follow God's calling. This new chapter of Layla's life is offering new opportunity to serve in a more personal level.
