“I just can’t do it anymore.” How often have you spoken that phrase before? If you haven’t spoken it out loud, then I can assure you, you have had the thought. We all get to the point of depletion. Life is exhausting. Responsibilities seem to just continue piling up. Time goes by faster and faster, and there is not enough time to complete everything we need to get done. People are pulling at us in every direction. Again, life is exhausting. There comes a time when you have to analyze things. When you face the reality that you ‘just can’t do it anymore’, then it’s time to evaluate.
Much of what causes us to get to this breaking point, is self-inflicted. Being overwhelmed is not an intentional act. In fact, most of the time we are doing our best to balance our responsibilities, along with helping others. It is important that we do both of these things. However, we cannot be effective in helping others, nor handling our responsibilities, if we don’t feed our spirit. Our faith, our source of life…is in God. God knows when you have taken on too much, and He is patiently waiting for you to hand things over to Him. When we get to that point of depletion, we are really trying to control life on our own. It is when we slack up on our faith and forget to pray, seek and trust, that we become overwhelmed and exhausted. Pay close attention to your life balance. God comes first, and then all other things will fall into place accordingly.
Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not ignore it. Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord. PROVERBS 8:33-35
Jesus said: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” MATTHEW 7:7-8
God is with us.
