Recently my family had the opportunity to step away from our busy work schedules and enjoy time away on vacation. It took me several days to unwind my mind, and begin to embrace time away from work. I love what I do, but it has a deep element of emotional heaviness on a daily basis. This is because I am working with others who are beginning a new life journey of change. There is no greater reward than to watch lives transform and people embrace their value and worth. But it’s a long process and something that takes some serious effort. Change is uncomfortable & unknown, and fear of that unknown can be difficult to press through.
All of us have something in our life that we know needs to change. Many times we hold onto things, situations, or even habits that we know are not healthy…simply because the thought of making a change creates discomfort in our minds. It is hard to face change. It takes effort.
It is easy to become complacent in our lives and allow things to continue on a day to day basis. We think that simply going on about our daily routine, in the same way, as usual, will make that thing, situation or habit go away in time. The reality is, nothing will change until we make an effort to step in a new direction.
Don’t be afraid to let go. You can be relieved…you can unload…you will find peace. It starts with accepting the fact that things need to change. Once you admit that thought to yourself, look to God, and ask Him to show you what to do next. Press past the uncomfortable feeling…the fear of the unknown…and begin thinking towards a better future. It is amazing how God begins to show you signs, stir your spirit, and help you know that you can do anything…through Christ who strengthens you. Jesus is holding your hand, and He will guide you when you allow Him to show you the way.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7
I can do everything through Him who gives me strength. PHILIPPIANS 4:13
God is with us.
