Your Words

The phrase Words Have Power on a Blackboard

Praise versus criticism. Think about how these two words have affected you in your life. How much influence did words of praise have on you, instead of words of criticism? When we receive praise for things in our life…no matter how small the subject…it creates a positive mindset. Advice is necessary for certain situations, but it can be presented in a context of careful wording, using “suggestion” instead of criticism. Words are very powerful, and the effect of properly used words can have a lifelong impact. Criticizing someone can be hurtful and create pain and sadness. Choose to be a positive, praise-filled person. The more you practice praising someone for the things they do, the more you find fulfillment within your own spirit. Positive breads positive. No matter what the situation, you can find some kind of positive within it. Let us look to the wisdom of Jesus, taught to us very clearly in the words of our Bible. Jesus was very careful with His words.  May we all strive to be careful how we use our tongue.

My lips will not say anything wicked, and my tongue will not utter lies. JOB 27:4

Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. JAMES 3:5

With the tongue, we praise our Lord and Father, and with it, we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. JAMES 3 9-10

God is with us.
