Content

peace (1)

What does it mean to you, to be content? Most of us answer that question by saying that we will be content when we can achieve peace. Why is it hard to have peace? Is it because we are never satisfied? What are we searching for? So often we maintain life in a somewhat “restless” state of mind. We are constantly trying to achieve a level of contentment…typically based upon a material goal. Unfortunately, the world tells us we need ‘more, more, more’. To be content in your life, does not take much…and it is not going to happen through material or surface goals. It is not going to be accomplished once you find that perfect spouse, perfect job, dream home…or lose a certain amount of weight…or pay off all the debt. Realistically, the list would never end if we were basing our satisfaction on achieving all these never ending expectations. This does not mean we don’t set goals or desire nice things. This means we keep it realistic. A content spirit is one that is at peace within. To be able to be at peace with yourself…regardless of circumstances…is when you will begin to experience a level of content. This ultimately means that you MUST trust that God is in control. You must give God the authority to guide you in all aspects of your life, by allowing Jesus to be your helper. When we allow Jesus to fill our hearts with love, we begin a new level of satisfaction. The more we allow the spirit of Jesus to dwell in our hearts…by renewing our minds with the Word of God…the more we begin understanding and living in peace. God brought you into this world, and He will show you the way through it. His way brings peace, contentment, and a true sense of whole living.

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” HEBREWS 13:5-6

But Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 1 TIMOTHY 6:6-8

God is with us.
