The holidays are filled with all kinds of reasons to be grateful, thankful, and rejoice at the season. If it weren’t for the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we would not have the opportunity to have forgiveness, unconditional love, and eternal life. This is the greatest gift we have ever, and will ever, receive. That’s the ultimate reason for the Christmas celebration. But what happens when this time of year becomes everything else beside the celebration of Christ? What happens when everyone around you is focused on the decorations, the parties, the food, the gifts, and the hoopla that gets out of control? What happens when people forget that real life is happening…and not everyone is faced with all the holiday times being filled with joy? Some people are facing anniversaries of loss; grief, divorce, unemployment, or health issues. This time of year becomes clouded with the façade of false joy. Don’t forget to recognize the emotions of those who are dealing with real life…and aren’t so excited about the hoopla the world is forcing. Be sure to pray for those who need prayer all year…and especially need prayer during these times. Don’t get so caught up in your own celebration, that you forget about the ones who are struggling to get past December. Pay attention to how the holidays may effect your neighbor, your friend, your family. Focus on being realistic when it comes to expectations and pressures that other’s may not be able to achieve. Allow Jesus to be the focus…not just during the holidays…but every single day of your life. Find that desire to seek God and His wisdom…before you get caught up in the whirlwind of the world.
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. JEREMIAH 29:13
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 CORINTHIANS 4:18
